I welcome you to my personal photography blog.
My name is Philip and I just recently bought my first DSLR. Previously I had used a Canon PowerShot SX200 IS together with the aftermarket firmware CHDK. This was a great combo for many years but I felt I had to step up the game a little bit. I researched quite a bit before getting lucky on ebay where I bought a brand new Canon 70D which had damaged packaging for almost 100€ less than the current retail price from other online shops. I also had luck with my timing as the Canon Summer Cashback had just started, so I effectivly only payed about 900€ for the body and the EF-S 18-55mm IS STM kit lens. So far I’m quite impressed with the camera.
Of course I soon had the urge to buy other lenses so I again researched a bit and found the incredibly cheap Canon 50mm f/1.8 prime lens for around 90€ and a great zoom lens, the Sigma 18-250mm f/3.5-6.3 DC Macro OS HSM, for around 300€. Both lenses deliver really nice and sharp pictures. The Canon 50mm also performs great in low light and has a great range of depth of field.
In the coming weeks I’ll publish some of my better photographs on this blog. I hope you like what you see on this site. As I’m just beginning my journey I’m very eager for every bit of advice I can get from more experienced photographers from around the world.
